DFES

The Department for Education and Skills (DfES) is the government department responsible for the development of education and skills in the country.  Its role includes directing and implementing policy is all aspects of development of skills for life and work from schools through to adult learning.

DfES awards the contract for delivery of the Key Skills Support Programme and monitors its delivery over the entire contract period.

QCA

The Qualifications and Curriculum Authority (QCA) leads on developments in curriculum, assessments, examinations and qualifications.  It is committed to building a world-class education and training framework that meets the changing needs of individuals, business and society.

QCA is the body responsible for the definition and approval of the key skills standards and oversees the role played by awarding bodies in accrediting key skills qualifications.
